CALL TO ORDER - STUDY SESSION

A Study Session of the Palm Desert City Council was called to order by Mayor Harnik on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at 2:45 p.m., in the Council Chamber, City Hall, located at 73-510 Fred Waring Drive, Palm Desert, California.

Director of Finance Chavez narrated a PowerPoint presentation and responded to City Council inquiries.

Following discussion, the City Council has recommended that funding requests for special events, including Desert X, El Paseo Fashion Week, and Palm Desert Food & Wine, will be reviewed and evaluated individually, on a case-by-case basis, rather than as part of a CDBG process.

Director of Development Services Cannone narrated a PowerPoint presentation and responded to City Council inquiries.

Following discussion, the City Council expressed support for bringing business license functions in-house beginning January 1, 2026, and establishing an annual fixed date for business license renewals.
